BrickLink 2028 Wave 1: Voting on 421 LEGO fan designs ends today

421 Fan Designs_ Today's Your Last Chance!

If you enjoy discovering unique LEGO fan-built models, be sure to check out BrickLink again today. The voting period for Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 ends on October 14, 2026. In this round, there are 421 submitted designs to choose from.

This isn’t about placing an order just yet. Through their Ratings, the community helps highlight interesting models for further consideration. I find this phase particularly exciting because it lets you see designs that aren’t yet available in the regular LEGO lineup.

When is the deadline for voting?

According to the published schedule , the crowd-support phase runs through October 14 at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time. That corresponds to 9:00 p.m. German Summer Time. If you’d like to participate, don’t wait until the last minute.

What happens after the vote?

Community ratings are one factor in the selection process, but they do not guarantee that a design will later be released as a set. BrickLink also considers internal criteria, such as build quality and suitability for the program, when making its decision.

According to the current schedule, the five final designs are set to be announced on November 12, 2026. The crowdfunding phase is not scheduled to begin until October 2027. So there’s still quite a while between receiving a positive community rating and the actual purchase.

Why I’m watching the vote

Castles, pirate models, train stations, and building projects, in particular, have traditionally had a strong fan base on BrickLink. Still, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about future market value based on all the positive feedback. Above all, the program shows which building ideas are popular among adult LEGO fans.

For collectors and investors, it’s interesting to take a look at the community. Anyone who actually buys one of the models later can add it to their Collection or portfolio. There are also Brick-Tracker Investment Tools.

My Conclusion

Today is, above all, an opportunity to have a say. If you like unusual fan-designed models, you can check out the 421 proposals and vote for your favorites. Voting is free, but it ends tonight.
