According to various leaks, <strong>a new LEGO NINJAGO series<\/strong> is set to be released as early as <strong>2027<\/strong> \u2014and some leakers are even <strong>calling<\/strong>it <strong>an \u201canime<\/strong>.\u201d But where did this rumor come from, and how credible is it? That\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re going to look into today.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where did the rumor come from?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rumor surfaced early last month and can be traced back to an <strong>early catalog from AMEET Publishing<\/strong>. <br\/>AMEET has been publishing numerous official LEGO products\u2014such as books, puzzle books, and magazines\u2014for many years. An early version of a retailer catalog, which was available to the well-known LEGO fan channel <strong>Bricks by Mind<\/strong>, among others, reportedly contained an additional reference. It mentioned a <strong>new LEGO NINJAGO series for 2027<\/strong>, which is said to be aimed at an <strong>older audience<\/strong> and was referred to internally as <strong>an anime<\/strong>. <br\/>However, this reference was completely missing from the version of the catalog published later.    <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-scaled.jpeg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4036\" style=\"width:424px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-1536x2048.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4637-scaled.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What could that mean?  <br\/>Let&#8217;s take a look at the different options.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Option 1: The series was postponed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most likely explanation is that the project was originally scheduled for 2027, but production has been delayed. Animated series often require several years of development, so a later launch in late 2027 or even as late as 2028 would be entirely realistic. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Option 2: LEGO didn&#8217;t want to announce the series just yet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, it&#8217;s also possible that LEGO deliberately removed the reference so it could officially unveil the series at a later date.  <br\/>Personally, though, I think this possibility is rather unlikely. <strong>San Diego Comic-Con<\/strong> took place just recently\u2014a perfect opportunity for a major announcement. Although LEGO had its own NINJAGO panel there, no new series was mentioned at all.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4636.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"445\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4636.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4037\" style=\"width:636px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4636.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4636-300x167.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_4636-768x427.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">An example of what the series might look like in anime style<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Option 3: The project was modified or halted<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s also possible that the project was revised internally or even put on hold for the time being. Perhaps they weren\u2019t satisfied with the results so far, or decided to make fundamental changes to the concept, style, or direction. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Does \u201cAnime\u201d Really Mean Anime?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exactly where you need to be careful. <br\/>The term <strong>\u201canime\u201d<\/strong> doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that LEGO is producing a classic Japanese anime series. It could just as easily refer to an <strong>anime-like animation style<\/strong>. <br\/>A good example of this is <strong>LEGO Monkie Kid<\/strong>. This series also has a distinctly different style than LEGO NINJAGO and is visually more closely aligned with modern anime productions, without actually being a classic anime.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"653\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-653x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4038\" style=\"width:417px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-653x1024.jpeg 653w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-191x300.jpeg 191w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-768x1204.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-979x1536.jpeg 979w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393-1306x2048.jpeg 1306w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_1393.jpeg 1406w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 653px) 100vw, 653px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I currently consider that exact approach to be the most likely scenario as well.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A series for older fans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s particularly interesting to note that the series is intended for an <strong>older audience<\/strong>. <br\/>According to rumors so far, the target audience is said to be between <strong>the ages<\/strong> of <strong>12 and 14<\/strong>. If that\u2019s true, LEGO might give the series a slightly more serious tone. The typical NINJAGO humor would likely remain, but at the same time, the plot, character development, and conflicts could be portrayed in a slightly more mature way.    <br\/>This is sure to be an exciting development, especially for longtime fans.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was actually really excited by this rumor. I grew up with LEGO NINJAGO and followed the series for many years. At some point\u2014around Season 15\u2014I kind of lost track of it, though. The plot became increasingly confusing to me, and some of the stories started to feel a bit too generic over time.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why I&#8217;d really appreciate a fresh start.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, I personally expect that we might actually see a new LEGO NINJAGO animated series <strong>by the end of 2027 or early 2028<\/strong>.
