As many of you know, a new model for the Winter Village Collection is traditionally released in the fall\u2014sometimes a classic Christmas house, sometimes a train, a store, or something completely different. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, we\u2019re getting another house set: the <strong>LEGO Icons 11387 Christmas House<\/strong>. <br\/>The set consists of <strong>1<\/strong> <strong>,<\/strong> <strong>354 pieces<\/strong>, costs <strong>109.99 euros<\/strong>, and is scheduled for release on <strong>October 4, 2026<\/strong>. LEGO Insiders can get their hands on it as early as <strong>October 1.<\/strong> It also includes four Minifigures, a horse-drawn sleigh, a snowman, and, of course, the big Christmas tree. The sleigh itself is predominantly dark blue and is decorated with gold and Christmas-themed elements.   <br\/>There are small wheels under the sleigh. The classic green tree elements are complemented by various green branch-like elements and colorful Christmas decorations. At the very top is a small poinsettia. <br\/>What you might not notice at first glance: <strong>there\u2019s a light-up stone inside the Christmas tree.<\/strong> When you set it up indoors and turn on the light, it illuminates the windows on both floors. I actually think that\u2019s a pretty nice idea.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Christmas House<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But let\u2019s get to the main model itself. <br\/>And looking at it from the front, I really have to say: <strong>The house looks great.<\/strong> <br\/>I really love the color palette. <br\/>In the lower section, we see plenty of Dark Nougat, brown, and sand-colored elements. Later, the official LEGO MSRP was raised to 99.99 euros.   <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"893\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-1024x893.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5090\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.1467029171216545;width:584px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-1024x893.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-300x262.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-768x670.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-1536x1339.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5602-2048x1786.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means the new Christmas house has <strong>91 fewer pieces<\/strong> and actually costs <strong>20 euros more<\/strong> than the original launch MSRP. <br\/>Of course, five years have passed since then, and prices change. <br\/>Still, I find the comparison interesting. <br\/>Because, in my opinion, the old model offered much more value, even when it came to the interior.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The old house made better use of the space<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Model 10293 was also open at the back and had an angled design.  <br\/>Still, in my opinion, the available space was used much more effectively.  <br\/>We got a real dining table where the family could sit, a detailed fireplace area, a kitchen, and even a small bedroom for the child above it.  <br\/>Outside stood the slightly smaller and more compact Christmas tree, along with the mailbox and other small details. At the time, LEGO itself highlighted the dining table, the fireplace, the sleeping arrangements\u2014or rather, family life\u2014and the many interior details.   <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5603.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" <br\/>Because of that, the house just felt more like a <strong>real, lived-in Christmas house<\/strong> to me. <br\/>In my opinion, the facade of the new model looks even nicer. <br\/>But as soon as I turn it around, I just feel like something\u2019s missing.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It takes a lot of work to keep a house in good shape<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, you could say: Well, then just buy several sets and build a complete house out of them.  <br\/>But unfortunately, it&#8217;s not quite that simple.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Given the shape and design, you can\u2019t just place two sets back-to-back and call it a day. <br\/>Even with three sets, you\u2019d probably have to assemble one model normally, then more or less completely take the other two apart and use their parts to properly complete the back wall, interior spaces, and roof. <br\/>And then, with three sets, we\u2019re already looking at <strong>an MSRP of<\/strong> nearly <strong>330 euros<\/strong>. <br\/>Personally, that would be a bit too much for me to spend on a Christmas house.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Open backs have always existed\u2014but\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be fair, of course, it has to be said that the Winter Village houses have actually <strong>always<\/strong> been <strong>open at the back<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So this isn&#8217;t a new problem.  <br\/>Even when Santa Claus came to visit, there was discussion at the time about how the angled design made it impossible to simply connect two sets together.  <br\/>Still, I think that some of the older models actually made much better use of this open concept.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5606.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5606-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5092\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good example is the <strong>10229 Winter Cabin<\/strong> from 2012.<br\/>The set consisted of about <strong>1,490 pieces<\/strong> and cost 99.99 euros at the time. This made it one of the first significantly larger 100-euro models in the Winter Village series.   <br\/>Of course, this building was also open at the back.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it was much deeper, had a lot more interior space, and so it felt more like a real house to me.  <br\/>And if you really wanted to, you could use a second copy and make a few changes to turn it into a closed building much more easily.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And that&#8217;s exactly what I feel is missing from the new set<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, I know what LEGO is trying to do with these models.  <br\/>They should look nice from the front, depict a Christmas scene, and at the same time remain accessible from the back so that you can play with or view the Minifigures and interior decor properly.  <br\/>That makes sense, in principle.  <br\/>But I think we&#8217;ve reached a point where LEGO could definitely try something new.  <br\/>And LEGO has shown us this year that even today, it can still build a real building for about 100 euros.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NINJAGO shows that there&#8217;s another way<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good example is the <strong>LEGO NINJAGO 71785 <\/strong><strong> 15th Anniversary of the Four Weapons Forge<\/strong>. <br\/>The set costs <strong>99.99 euros<\/strong>, consists of <strong>1,259 pieces<\/strong>, and includes six Minifigures. The forge opens at the front and can then be closed again to form a complete building.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s exactly my point.  <br\/>Of course, NINJAGO is a completely different theme world.  <br\/>But if LEGO can offer a building that looks like a cohesive whole with 1,259 pieces for 99.99 euros, then I would have at least hoped that they might try a similar approach with the 109.99-euro Christmas house.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, they could have made the huge Christmas tree a little smaller. <br\/>Maybe the extra horse-drawn sleigh isn\u2019t strictly necessary either. <br\/>Instead, they could have invested those resources in the back wall, interior, and roof. <br\/>And suddenly, we might have had a <strong>truly enclosed Winter Village house<\/strong> for the first time. <br\/>For me personally, that would have been a really interesting change of pace.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maybe we need more variety again anyway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that brings me to another point.  <br\/>I love the Winter Village Collection.  <br\/>But in recent years, we&#8217;ve actually seen quite a few residential buildings\u2014or rather, very similar building designs\u2014pop up again.  <br\/>In the past, the series used to be much more varied in some respects.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5094\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5605-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5095\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.brick-tracker.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_5604-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, for example, the <strong>10216 Winter Bakery<\/strong> and the <strong>10222 Christmas Post Office<\/strong> remain some of the most iconic sets in the entire series to this day.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those were the kinds of buildings you\u2019d actually need for a real Christmas town. <br\/>Later, additions included a Christmas market, a train, a train station, and a fire station, among other things. <br\/>That\u2019s exactly the kind of variety I\u2019d like to see more often again. <br\/>How about, for example, a <strong>police station decorated for Christmas<\/strong>? <br\/>Or a restaurant? <br\/>A school? <br\/>A hospital?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something that you also need in a real LEGO city and that you can decorate to give it a festive Christmas feel.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A real Christmas town instead of ever-changing backdrops<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Precisely because the Winter Village Collection has been around for so many years now, I think it would be nice if LEGO would reward long-time collectors a little more.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">True to the motto:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you collect as many sets as possible over the years, eventually you&#8217;ll end up with a real little Christmas town.  <br\/>Of course, a city also needs residential buildings.  <br\/>That&#8217;s absolutely right, and generally speaking, I also appreciate beautiful residential buildings.  <br\/>But when similar types of buildings keep appearing too close together, I eventually start to miss a little variety.  <br\/>And that&#8217;s exactly where, in my opinion, LEGO could have been a little bolder this year.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m a huge fan of this entire series myself. <br\/>By now, I actually own <strong>every single one of the large Winter Village buildings<\/strong> \u2014except, of course, for the new Christmas house that&#8217;s just been released. <br\/>And every year, I look forward to seeing what LEGO has in store this time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will I get the <strong>11387 Christmas House<\/strong>? <br\/>Probably. <br\/>But not necessarily right away for 109.99 euros. <br\/>I think the facade is really beautiful. I like the color scheme, the sleigh is cute, the lit Christmas tree is a nice touch, and as a pure Christmas decoration, the set definitely makes quite an impression. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But to me, that&#8217;s exactly what it is: <strong>a very beautiful facade.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As soon as I turn the model over, I&#8217;m much less impressed.  <br\/>And especially for my own Christmas town, I&#8217;d probably have to make quite a few changes to it before it really looks the way I&#8217;d like it to. On top of that, the MSRP has gone up.   <br\/>The &#8220;Visit to Santa&#8221; set was priced at 89.99 euros when it launched in 2021. Now it\u2019s 109.99 euros, and it even comes with slightly fewer pieces. <br\/>However, it\u2019s also important to note that LEGO is currently offering the new Christmas House as <strong>an exclusive set<\/strong>.
