However, LEGO Ideas has since clarified that all officially released versions of the film are eligible.

This expands the pool of available characters and vehicles somewhat. For example, Boba Fett and the Outrider can also be used because they appear in later official versions or special editions of the film.

Imperator Palpatine, on the other hand, is not sufficient: According to the clarification, a mere mention of him in the film does not automatically make him an eligible character for the contest.

Marvel: Comics, yes—movies, no

There is also an important restriction on the Marvel side. Only Marvel Comics count toward the challenge. Characters or variants that originate exclusively from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the movies are therefore not automatically eligible.

Anyone who wants to participate should therefore carefully check whether the chosen character or version actually falls within the permitted Marvel Comics guidelines.

Deadpool, the Punisher, and Daredevil are excluded

In addition, the general LEGO Ideas guidelines apply. As a result, certain Marvel characters are excluded from the contest. Specifically , Deadpool, the Punisher, and Daredevil, among others, were listed as ineligible.

That’s quite remarkable, because the Punisher and Daredevil have already appeared in previous LEGO sets. However, this contest is subject to the current Ideas guidelines and the specific requirements of the crossover campaign.

Multiple figures may be combined into a single character

When it comes to the actual creative process, however, LEGO gives participants a great deal of freedom: According to the clarification , there is no fixed upper limit on how many eligible figures may be combined.

As long as all the characters used come from permitted sources, significantly more complex mash-ups can also be created. This is precisely why the “Character Fusion” category is likely to produce particularly unusual designs.

Up to 15 finalists have a chance to win an official set

“Hope Assembles” consists of three separate contests for characters, vehicles, and scenes. Five models from each category will be put up for fan voting.

LEGO Ideas has since clarified that each of these finalist submissions has, in principle, a chance of being selected as an official LEGO product at a later date. This means that, theoretically, up to 15 different designs could be considered for future production.

However, that does not mean that 15 sets will actually be produced. It simply means that, in principle, more than one winning design can be considered.

The deadline for submissions is November 12

Anyone who would like to participate has until November 12, 2026, to submit a design. After that, the designs will be selected for the fan vote.

The LEGO Group has officially confirmed that future products will be developed based on the campaign. It is not yet clear when these products will be released or how many designs will ultimately be produced.

Why this is of interest to collectors

For collectors, this development is exciting because it could lead to the first-ever official LEGO sets that combine Star Wars and Marvel in a single set. This creates a product category that has never existed in this form before.

That’s exactly why it’s worth keeping an eye on the challenge over the coming weeks. As soon as specific winners, set numbers, or products are announced, we’ll of course add them to Brick-Tracker and track their price trends.

About the Brick-Tracker Overview , you’ll find Price Comparisons, a Wishlist, Price Alerts, live deals, and our community channels all in one place.

My Conclusion

The new clarifications make it clear that the Star Wars × Marvel contest is significantly more complex than the initial announcement suggested. Anyone who wants to submit an entry should carefully review the rules regarding characters and sources.

For everyone else, the biggest thrill will be seeing which 15 designs ultimately make it to the fan voting round. This could turn out to be one of the most unusual LEGO Ideas contests in recent years.

The LEGO Ideas contest “Hope Assembles” is underway—and there are now some important clarifications.
