Hey there!
Today in our review, we’re taking a look at an incredibly popular LEGO set: the LEGO City Delivery Van, set number 60500!
But what can this little van do, and is it worth buying?
Let’s get started!
Setup and First Impressions
It took me about 35 minutes to assemble the entire set, since I was watching a TV show at the same time. Normally, if I were assembling it at a leisurely pace, I’d estimate it would take about 25 minutes.
When we take a look at the finished van, we end up with a truly lovingly designed and fantastic little van!
Like most classic LEGO City vehicles, the van is six studs wide. That corresponds to a body width of about five centimeters. In total, the vehicle is 16 centimeters long and seven centimeters tall.
What immediately stands out is the vehicle’s truly beautiful design.
Both the LEGO logo and the large white elements featuring LEGO bricks are printed. There actually aren’t any stickers included in the set!
And I think that’s really great!
Features and Interior
There are hinged doors on both sides of the delivery van that can be folded up. Inside, there’s a hidden storage compartment where you can stow a small pallet.
This pallet holds a total of four small LEGO sets, and these, too, are all printed tiles!
Here are the sets we have:
- LEGO City Arctic Polar Express
- LEGO City Monster Truck
- LEGO City RV
- LEGO City Excavator
All four sets are depicted on small printed tiles and are stored together on a pallet.
The pallet is held together at the edges by four black 1×1 round tiles.
In addition, a hand truck can be stowed in the back. There is also a wrench and two lamps on the back wall of the van, which are intended to illuminate the interior.
But you can open the van not only through the side swing doors.
There are also two regular doors in the back that you can swing open to the left and right.
I think that’s really cool!
Driver’s cab and hood
Let’s take a look at the front of the van.
The driver’s cab can fit a total of two Minifigures. The small doors on the sides can also be opened.
If you remove the front part of the roof, you’ll see the steering wheel and a small console with a speedometer.
Otherwise, the interior is quite basic. There’s a hint of a backrest, and that’s about it.
Of course, the vehicle also comes with a rearview mirror.
Another cool feature up front: You can lift the hood a little bit and see the engine underneath.
However, you can also see the various colorful parts that LEGO used inside.
Let’s turn the whole vehicle over! The underside is mostly gray, white, and sand-colored, which I think is acceptable.
This makes the vehicle look really nice and clean from the outside.
The two Minifigures
Let’s take a look at the two Minifigures.
Here we have two simple delivery people, a woman and a man.
The woman also wears a hearing aid in her ear.
Otherwise, these aren’t anything out of the ordinary. Nothing we haven’t already seen in countless other LEGO City sets.
But they fit well with the set!

Of course, they could have given the two of them actual LEGO clothes with the appropriate branding. That would certainly have been nice.
However, we have to be realistic. After all, not everyone who works for LEGO wears LEGO clothes all the time.
So, all in all, I think the two figures are perfectly fine as they are.

A perfect LEGO City set?
What’s actually missing? Or is anything missing at all?
That’s a good question!
First and foremost, in my opinion, the set really doesn’t lack much.
I had fun building the little van, and it’s really well-designed. It’s sturdy, great to play with, and visually, there’s hardly anything to complain about.
There’s practically nothing that can fall off, and the whole design is really beautifully executed. I especially think the feature with the side hinged doors is really cool. And I think it’s really great that LEGO completely did away with stickers here!
Of course, there are a few minor details that could still be improved.
For example, the hinges on the hinged doors detract a bit from the overall look. Perhaps they could have been designed a little more cleanly here.
The visible studs on the roof could also have been removed to give the whole thing an even smoother look. But that’s certainly up for debate.
Another thing I would have thought was really cool would have been an additional LEGO logo on the large yellow piece above the windshield or right on the hood.
Finally, the hubcaps also got small prints. Another LEGO logo up front would certainly have looked good there. But it’s definitely not a deal-breaker!
Otherwise, in my opinion, the vehicle is really amazingly well-made.
The price is the biggest problem.
Let’s get to the one thing I really don’t like about this set. And that’s the price!
With an MSRP of 29.99 euros, I think the LEGO delivery van—with just 276 pieces—is pretty steep.
That works out to a price per piece of almost eleven cents.
And even if we had 300 pieces, that would still be ten cents per piece.
For licensed themes, I think prices like that are perfectly fine. We’re used to that by now.
But for LEGO City, I have to be honest—I think that’s pretty expensive.
In my opinion, 25 euros would be fair. 20 euros would be an absolute no-brainer!
The good news, though, is that the set is also readily available in stores.
I personally got my delivery van for just 15 euros. And prices between 17 and 20 euros are always available.
At prices like that, it’s obviously a really great set!
Why this set is also interesting for MOC builders
What I also find particularly interesting are the numerous printed elements.
And it’s precisely these that could make the set interesting in the long run!
The printed LEGO set tiles are really great, especially for MOC builders, LEGO City fans, or people who build their own dioramas. For example, if you want to build your own LEGO Store.
Of course, for that you’ll also need the right LEGO sets to display on the shelves.
And until now, there haven’t been too many printed versions of those.
Here you get four different LEGO sets in miniature form all at once!
That’s really nice, of course.
There are also the large white pieces with printed LEGO bricks on them. I think these are really cool, too!
You could use them, for example, for the facade of a LEGO Store, for your own MOC, or maybe even as a kind of graffiti.
And of course, we also have the small 2×2 tiles with the LEGO logo.
I think the printed pieces are especially cool!
The vehicle itself is also very versatile, though.
For example, it’s perfect for integrating into a LEGO City scene or combining with a Christmas-themed world.
After all, Christmas is coming!
I’ll probably pick up a delivery van or two as well.
Because three or four of these vehicles lined up in a row would make for a really nice little delivery convoy in LEGO City.
I think that would look really great!
Does the LEGO delivery truck have investment potential?
And that brings us to another interesting question.
How might the set’s value change after it reaches EOL? Personally, I’m pretty sure that the LEGO delivery truck could also go up in price once production ends.
Why?
Mainly because of all the prints!
In my opinion, the printed LEGO sets, the large white elements, and the LEGO logo tiles are exactly the kinds of pieces that MOC builders and collectors might still be looking for in the future.
And then, of course, there’s the vehicle itself.
It looks great, is versatile, and works wonderfully in a LEGO City setting.
It’s precisely this combination that could make the delivery van interesting after its EOL.
Of course, it remains to be seen when the set will actually disappear from the market and how the price will develop from there.
Personally, though, I definitely see potential here!
My Conclusion
I really love the LEGO City Delivery Van 60500!
It’s fun to build, the model is sturdy, looks great, and offers some fun play features.
The side-hinged doors and the many printed pieces are absolute highlights for me.
Of course, there are a few minor details that could have been improved visually.
But for me, that’s all manageable.
What really bothers me is the MSRP of 29.99 euros. I think that’s just too high for a LEGO City set with only 276 pieces.
So, overall, I’d give the set a score of 8 to 9 out of 10.
And this rating is mainly due to the price!
If the set had been priced at 20 to 25 euros from the start, it would clearly be a 10-out-of-10 set for me.
Because, in my opinion, this little delivery van is a truly outstanding LEGO City model.
With a decent discount, I can actually recommend this set to just about anyone.
Even people who don’t own any LEGO City sets of their own can simply display this little delivery van on their shelf. Or use it in a Christmas-themed display.
Personally, I’ll definitely be picking up a few more sets, since I really like this model.
A very nice LEGO City set!
Now I’m really curious to hear what you think of the whole set!
Do you already have the LEGO delivery truck? What do you think of it, and what do you like most about this model?
