BrickLink Series 9: Five Limited-Edition Fan Sets

The pre-order phase is currently underway for the BrickLink Designer Program Series 9. This is particularly interesting for collectors because the five fan-designed sets will only be produced in a limited run. Anyone who wants one of these models should mark October 12, 2026, on their calendar: That’s when the crowdfunding phase ends, unless all available units sell out before then.

These five sets are included in Series 9

The selection ranges from a large harbor scene to a small autumnal diorama. The euro prices announced at launch are as follows:

Why October 12 Is Important

The crowdfunding campaign has been running since October 6 and, according to BrickLink, will end on October 12 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time —which corresponds to 12:00 a.m. on October 13 German time. Each model requires at least 3,000 pre-orders to go into production. Production is strictly limited; a maximum of two copies of each model are allowed per household.

Delivery is scheduled for March 2027. So these aren’t sets that will be on the shelves as early as next week.

Which model do I find particularly exciting?

With its medieval design, the “Sleepy Dragon” Inn is sure to appeal to many Castle fans. The Fishing Village, on the other hand, is a real showpiece for harbor and cityscapes. And the Pumpkin Patch offers a much more affordable way to get started with the series.

To me, this is a good example of why you shouldn’t equate interest with Investment when it comes to collector’s sets. A limited edition can be appealing, but it doesn’t guarantee a profit down the road. The starting prices, the number of potential buyers, and the demand for delivery all play a decisive role.

Brick-Tracker: Monitor Prices and Future Trends

The sets are already listed in Brick-Tracker. You can use the linked price comparison sites to add the models to your watchlist and track their status after they’ve been shipped. The Brick-Tracker app overview also combines Price Alerts, live deals, a Wishlist, and the community; for historical comparisons, there’s the Market Analysis.

My Conclusion

Anyone who really wants to build or collect one of the five models should make sure not to miss the deadline. On the other hand, anyone hoping only for a quick profit from reselling should think carefully before making a decision. Just because a fan set is nice doesn’t automatically mean it’s a good Investment.
