Hi there!
Gamescom 2026 in Cologne kicks off in just a few hours with the big Opening Night Live, and LEGO is once again officially participating this year.
But what has actually been confirmed so far? What can we expect at the LEGO booth, what does Pokémon have to do with it, and might we even get a glimpse of a new LEGO video game?
Let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
Let’s get started!
Large LEGO booth featuring Fortnite
For now, the only thing that has been officially confirmed is a large LEGO booth in Hall 9.
You’ll find LEGO at booths A-029, A-030, A-040, and B-029. This year’s main focus is on LEGO Fortnite.
One of the highlights will be a large replica of the famous Rave Cave from Fortnite.
Of course, there’s now also the LEGO Fortnite set 77082 Rave Cave to go along with it.
It is not yet fully known what else will take place directly at the LEGO booth.
In recent years, LEGO has consistently held various building activities and smaller events at Gamescom. So I wouldn’t be surprised if such activities take place again this year. However, no daily building event has been officially announced yet.
So if you’re there, you should definitely stop by the LEGO booth every now and then.
LEGO and Pokémon at Gamescom?
Things are also getting interesting in the world of Pokémon.
Pokémon GO will also be at Gamescom this year. However, the actual Pokémon GO area is located outdoors near P8. Among other things, there’s an interactive photo booth where visitors can take photos and videos with Pokémon and then receive an item code for Pokémon GO.
And that’s exactly where LEGO comes in.
There’s currently an official collaboration between Pokémon GO and LEGO Pokémon. Various Pokémon GO promotions are taking place at select LEGO Stores through the end of September. These include a stamp rally, special Pikachu encounters, stickers, avatar items, and LEGO Pokémon SMART Play activities.
This collaboration will continue in Cologne during Gamescom. Pokémon GO specifically mentions the LEGO Store in Cologne, where visitors can experience the current collaboration and receive codes for Pokémon GO during Gamescom. (Pokémon GO)
However, it has not yet been officially confirmed whether LEGO will also have a presence directly in the Pokémon GO area at Gamescom.
“LEGO Meets Pokémon!” on Rocket Beans
There’s another interesting event scheduled for Wednesday, August 26.
At 2:45 p.m., Rocket Beans will feature the following segment:
“LEGO Meets POKÉMON! Nerds on Stage”
The segment is scheduled to last about 20 minutes. It’s not yet clear exactly what will happen during the segment. But the combination of LEGO and Pokémon alone naturally makes the whole thing quite interesting. (Forum • Rocket Beans TV)
In addition, YouTuber and streamer Maxi is also expected to be on site in the LEGO area on Saturday, August 29. The exact time and what exactly is planned there are not yet known.
Opening Night Live kicks off tonight
But of course, things are already going to get especially exciting tonight.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 starts at 8:00 p.m. German time and officially kicks off Gamescom week. The actual trade show then runs from August 26 through 30, 2026.
And LEGO fans will, of course, want to pay especially close attention.
After all, it was only last year that *LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight* was officially unveiled with a major trailer at Opening Night Live.
So this year, too, we have another reason to keep an eye on the show.
Will LEGO Skylines finally be unveiled?
For several months now, there have been rumors circulating about a previously unannounced video game called LEGO Skylines.
The game has already appeared on the Korean age rating authority’s website, where it was linked to Paradox Interactive —the very same publisher behind the well-known city-building series *Cities: Skylines*. However, there has been no official announcement from LEGO or Paradox to date.
We’ve already covered the full rumor in more detail in a separate article, which you can find .
In my opinion, an announcement at Opening Night Live would definitely be possible. After all, both LEGO and Paradox will be at Gamescom.
But it’s very important to note: This is just speculation so far.
There is currently no confirmation whatsoever that LEGO Skylines will actually be unveiled tonight.
My Conclusion
The various LEGO-related activities at Gamescom have consistently been a real highlight for many visitors in recent years, and this year looks set to be just as interesting.
The large LEGO Fortnite area alone, featuring the Rave Cave, is sure to be a big hit at the event. Add to that the current collaboration with Pokémon GO, the Rocket Beans program segment centered on LEGO and Pokémon, and, of course, the gaming area featuring LEGO Batman.
And then, of course, there’s still the big question mark hanging over LEGO Skylines.
We’ll find out in just a few hours whether we’ll actually get an announcement tonight or if the game will remain unannounced.
Unfortunately, we won’t be there in person at Gamescom this year. But as soon as the first photos and details from the LEGO booth start coming in, we’ll of course keep you updated here on the blog and let you know what activities are taking place on-site and what you might be able to discover or snag.
Now it’s your turn: Are you going to Gamescom this year? Will you stop by the LEGO booth, and do you think we’ll get a look at LEGO Skylines tonight?
