Will George Lucas be released as a LEGO Minifigure in 2027?
A new rumor is currently sparking discussion among LEGO Star Wars fans. According to Brick Tap, George Lucas is set to appear as a new Minifigure in a previously unannounced LEGO set in 2027.
LEGO has not yet confirmed this. A set number, price, or specific details about the figure’s design are also not yet known. Accordingly, this report should be treated as a rumor for now.
Do fans even want real people?
For me, the more interesting question isn’t just whether the character will actually appear. Do LEGO Star Wars collectors even want a George Lucas Minifigure—or are they ultimately mainly interested in characters from the movies and TV shows?
After all, George Lucas isn’t directly part of the Star Wars universe. Nevertheless, as the creator of the entire saga, he is one of the most important figures behind the brand. For adult collectors, that might be exactly what makes it so appealing.
Children would probably be more excited about Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka, or new clone troopers. A George Lucas figure would therefore likely be less of a toy and more of a collector’s item.
The set is what matters
A lot would likely depend on which set the figure is included in. As an exclusive bonus in a very expensive model, it could be a source of frustration. In a smaller, widely available set, however, it would be accessible to significantly more fans.
I could easily imagine that some collectors would buy what is actually an average set just for this figure. Especially with LEGO Star Wars, exclusive Minifigures can significantly increase demand.
