Today, we’re taking a closer look at the first six Minifigures from the LEGO Minifigures Series 29 (71052). The series was released on May 1, 2026, and once again consists of a total of twelve different characters. A single surprise box has a MSRP of 3.99 euros.
And this series, in particular, features some pretty interesting characters. In addition to completely new ideas, we also get the occasional nod to old or familiar LEGO themes.
Today we’re starting with the first six Minifigures, and tomorrow we’ll continue with the second part, featuring the remaining six figures and my full review of the entire series.
Let’s get started!
1. Robot T. rex
First up is the Robot T-Rex.
And the name actually describes pretty well what we’re getting here: a white robot in a T-Rex costume that’s packed with details from head to toe.
Both the arms and legs feature prints, and the designs continue onto the torso and the back as well. The head, however, is particularly interesting. That’s because this time, there isn’t a normal human hidden beneath the T-Rex head, but rather a kind of camera lens or robotic eye.
This also makes it immediately clear: This is actually a robotic T. rex—and not just another person in an animal costume.
A truly highly detailed figure, even if it isn’t necessarily one of my personal favorites.
2. Marine biologist
Next up is the marine biologist, whom I would have simply called a diver at first.
She’s wearing a classic diving outfit and comes with a drawing or illustration of the fish, as well as a really cute clownfish on a transparent pink piece.
One of the highlights for me is the hairpiece with the built-in diving mask. She also comes with two dark blue fins, and the details continue on the back as well.
Although we’ve seen similar diver figures in the Minifigures series quite often in the past, the new clownfish still makes this figure interesting.
3. Bionicle Cosplayers
For many LEGO fans, the third figure is likely to be one of the biggest highlights of the entire series: the Bionicle cosplayer.
And here’s a really nice throwback.
The cosplayer portrays Tahu, one of the original Toa from the first generation of Bionicle. Specifically, the figure is based on set 8534 Tahu.
To go with it, he gets his Flame Sword and even a miniature version of the original Bionicle set, complete with the legendary Bionicle packaging.
The mask was also designed to match the original. Even on the back, there’s a nod to the classic Technic gear that controlled the functions of the Bionicles from that era.
When you take off the mask, the real cosplayer underneath is finally revealed.
For longtime Bionicle fans, this is, of course, a really nice tribute.
4. Monster Hunter
And right after that comes one of my personal highlights: the Monster Hunter.
To me, this figure is a really nice throwback to the old Monster Fighters theme world.
I really like the combination of the hair and hat elements alone. On top of that, there’s her Victorian—or rather, slightly steampunk-inspired—outfit with numerous prints and additional details on the arms.
She wears a green lens—or rather, a monocle—over one eye, and there’s also a fabric piece around her waist.
As accessories, she comes with a pretty wild combination of a blade and a weapon, as well as a “Wanted” poster featuring a female vampire.
The details continue on the back as well.
For me, she’s definitely one of the absolute standout figures in the entire series.
5. Boba Cup Fan
After that, things get a little crazier.
The fifth minifigure is the Boba Cup fan—I just call her the bubble tea lady.
The entire minifigure is inside a large transparent bubble tea cup with a Boba print. This large molded piece is, of course, the highlight and should certainly work well in all sorts of crazy LEGO City scenes.
When you take off the bubble tea costume, an otherwise rather plain figure in light pink is revealed underneath.
She also gets a little cherry as an accessory.
A fun idea—and definitely something different for a change.
6. Trash Monster
At the halfway point, we come to my next big highlight: the trash monster.
Its accessories include, among other things, a fishbone and an old, greasy pizza box.
But the actual figure is even better.
All sorts of vermin are crawling all over the green monster, and its entire body looks wonderfully slimy, dirty, and run-down. Both the arms and legs are printed, and the details continue even on the back.
But it gets really cool when you take off the monster’s head.
Underneath, a rotten pumpkin head is revealed, with a little worm even peeking out of its eye.
Wonderfully gross—and that’s exactly why I like this figure so much.

Interim Conclusion – The First Six Characters
In my opinion, the first six Minifigures turned out really well. Many of the figures have great details. There are once again a ton of dual-molded pieces, plus lots of prints on the arms and legs.
I’m really excited about the first six figures, and my absolute favorite is definitely the monster hunter. Great outfit, great details—to me, she’s just an all-around fantastic figure.
