Yesterday, I already told you about the special collaboration between Steiff and Pokémon to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. Now the time has finally come: The strictly limited-edition Steiff Pikachu has been officially unveiled. We also have the first two product images, and the pre-release date has now been confirmed.
Let’s get started.
Today at 12:00 p.m., the countdown on the official Steiff website ended, and the first two images of the collectible were released for the first time.
The first impression is extremely positive. The Pikachu features the typical, high-quality craftsmanship for which Steiff has been known for decades, and successfully combines this with Pikachu’s distinctive design. Despite being a plush toy, the Pokémon is instantly recognizable and, at the same time, looks like a classic Steiff collector’s item.
The pre-release begins on July 24
We now also know when the exclusive pre-release will begin.
The pre-sale event starts on July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Starting at that time, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase one of the first 350 numbered copies of the limited edition.

There had already been a similar collaboration
Interestingly, this isn’t the first collaboration between Steiff and Pokémon.
A few years ago, an exclusive Steiff Pikachu was released for the Japanese market in collaboration with Good Smile Company. That model was slightly larger than the new version and also featured a very high-quality design.
Depending on the source, this edition was limited to between 1,000 and 1,500 pieces and cost the equivalent of about €350 even back then .
Today, this Pikachu is one of the most sought-after Pokémon collectibles of all time. On the secondary market, prices regularly exceed €3,000. Some deals on eBay even reach €4,000 or more.
Of course, no one can predict today whether the new European edition will follow a similar trajectory. However, the strict limit of 1,996 copies, combined with the global popularity of Pokémon and Steiff, could very well ensure that this collectible remains highly sought-after in the long term.

My Conclusion
I really like the finished Pikachu.
Steiff has brilliantly captured Pikachu’s distinctive character while maintaining its own unique style. The result looks high-quality, timeless, and exactly how I imagined a collaboration between these two brands would be.
I’m happy for everyone who manages to get their hands on one of these limited-edition copies, and I’m already curious to see how demand will develop once sales officially begin.
