Hi there!
A new LEGO NINJAGO Mystery Pack was released a while back. It’s the LEGO NINJAGO Legacy Fun Edition No. 1.
For a MSRP of €8.99, you get two so-called “Versus Packs,” each containing two Minifigures. So, in total, you get four LEGO NINJAGO Minifigures for just under 9 euros.
At first glance, that sounds like a really good value. But that’s exactly what we’re going to take a closer look at today.
By the way, my personal favorites would have been Zane vs. Garmadon or Lloyd vs. Wu.
Let’s see what I ended up with.
The first pack I opened was Zane vs. Nindroid.
This set was released back in 2023 and cost €5.99 at the time . It includes the two Minifigures, Zane and a Nindroid.
Unfortunately, the second pack wasn’t what I wanted either.
Here, I pitted Lloyd against a Snake Warrior. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar enough with NINJAGO to know the character’s exact name off the top of my head.
This issue was published in 2022 and also cost €5.99 at the time .
So, if you add it all up, for €8.99 you get a total of four Minifigures from two older Versus packs, each of which originally cost around 6 euros.
Actually, that doesn’t sound too bad at first.
The catch
Now, however, we come to the reason why I unfortunately can’t recommend this Mystery Pack.
The first mistake was actually my own.
I simply hadn’t read the description carefully and had assumed that the Mystery Pack would containtwo of the newer NINJAGO metal tins. Each of those also contains two figures and would have been much more interesting to me.
But actually, these are the older blister packs—the predecessors to today’s metal tins. To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about that anymore.
And this is exactly where the real problem begins.
While many other LEGO Mystery Packs offer savings of about half the original retail price, the savings here amount to just around 3 euros.
That would still be acceptable if the old packs were hard to come by these days.
But unfortunately, they aren’t.
A Look at BrickLink
If you look at BrickLink, the situation becomes even clearer. While the average international selling price is now around 6 euros per blister pack, if you look at the deals currently available, you can find many of these packs for as little as 2 to 3 euros.
In plain language, this means:
If I had wanted exactly these two sets, I could have bought them together on BrickLink for about 5 euros plus shipping.
Even the individual Minifigures don’t change this picture much.
Although Zane, for example, is occasionally listed at slightly higher prices, in reality the Minifigures are often sold in Germany for as little as 1 to 2 euros each.
So, unfortunately, I see no justification whatsoever for a retail price of 8.99 €.
My Conclusion
I’m afraid I have to say:
This is the first LEGO Mystery Pack that I personally can’t recommend.
Not because the figures are bad—quite the opposite. The Minifigures included are actually quite well-designed.
The problem is solely the price.
You can now get the included blister packs—as well as the individual figures—for significantly less on the secondary market. Even parents who just want to buy their kids a few NINJAGO figures would be better off, in my opinion, checking out BrickLink or classified ads.
Of course, kids can still have plenty of fun with this Mystery Pack. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
However, when it comes to price, this Mystery Pack doesn’t impress me at all.
That’s exactly why I write articles like this—so you can decide for yourself before you buy whether a Mystery Pack is really worth it or not.
Now I’m curious to hear what you think.
Did you guys buy this Mystery Pack, too?
Which figures were included in your set, and how would you rate the value for the price?
