Hi there!
Today, I’m afraid I have to share some news with you that may come as a surprise to many, but is also quite sad. BrixPando, the online store from Brix just4Me, is closing.
Last Friday, Patrick posted a detailed video on his YouTube channel explaining why he’s taking this step, how the closure will unfold, and what his future plans are.
Let’s take a closer look at the whole situation.
What exactly is BrixPando?
For those who aren’t yet familiar with BrixPando:
BrixPando is the online store run by Brix just4Me. There, Patrick has been developing expansion packs for existing LEGO sets for nearly two and a half years now.
He has become particularly well-known for his modifications to various LEGO Star Wars models. His most famous project is likely the expansion pack for the Coruscant Republic Gunship, which included numerous detail improvements and added features.
I’ve also featured several of his expansions here on the blog over the past few months.
This makes the news that this shop is closing its doors all the more sad.
Why is BrixPando closing?
Patrick no longer runs BrixPando just as a side project.
Along with his YouTube channel, the shop had become his main source of income.
As he himself explains, while he was able to make a living from it, health insurance, taxes, material costs, and many other ongoing expenses meant that, in the end, he didn’t have much financial leeway.
Nevertheless, he continued to invest in new models, developed additional expansion packs, and kept expanding his product line beyond LEGO Star Wars.
The real turning point, however, came this spring.
As Patrick explains in the video, sales suddenly plummeted starting in March. He couldn’t pinpoint a single cause himself. However, he suspects that factors such as the general economic uncertainty triggered by the war in Iran and the rising cost of living may have contributed.
This has led many people to put off making major purchases for the time being.
The result was drastic:
His sales dropped by about 50 percent at one point.
I noticed it myself back then, too. We talked a lot during that time, and he told me what was going on. Although the situation improved somewhat in May, that apparently wasn’t enough in the long run.
In fact, his original plan had been to continue expanding BrixPando and eventually build a small team to help him with design, packaging, and shipping.
Unfortunately, that never happened.
In fact, I had even talked to Patrick myself about helping him with the packaging and assembly of the expansion packs in the future.
Unfortunately, that won’t happen now.
Here’s how the closure will take place
Patrick has already broken down the closure process into several phases.
Phase 1 – through July 26
Once again, nearly all expansion packs have been made availablefor order.
This means that even models that are already sold out can be ordered one last time. These will then be produced specifically for the Buyers and will not be restocked afterward.
In addition, for orders of €50 or more, the limited-edition BRIXXY Seasons – Chapter 03: Summer Edition is available, limited to just 30 pieces.
Furthermore, the two older BRIXXY sets— Christmas 2025 and Easter 2026 —can still be purchased individually while supplies last.
Phase 2 – July 27 through August 9
Once the pre-order period ends, all sold-out products will be permanently disabled.
In addition, a second BRIXXY campaign is set to launch, though details have been kept under wraps so far.
At the same time, a major sale is kicking off: Nearly all products are marked down by at least 20 percent. EOL packs that are already on sale are getting even cheaper.
Phase 3 – August 10–23
The actual clearance sale begins now.
All expansion packs still in stock are 50 percent off. Some products that were already on sale will be marked down even further.
August 24 – The End
On August 24, 2026, BrixPando will close its doors for good.
Afterward, an inventory will be taken and the shop will be shut down.
This marks the end of a truly special project after just under two and a half years.
Phase 4 – Whatnot Auction
On the weekend of August 29 and 30, there will also be a major Whatnot livestream.
All remaining expansion packs will be auctioned offthere, startingat €1.
In addition, Patrick is parting with numerous prototypes of his models, which have so far only been seen in his videos.
He’ll keep a few of them himself, but many others are looking for a new home there.
A little teaser:
I’ll most likely be watching this stream live as well.
What happens to the instructions?
The digital instructions will remain online for the time being.
However, since the server incurs monthly costs of around 100 €, it is currently unclear how long this will continue.
Should the server be shut down at some point, all instructions will still be available via Rebrickable.
Anyone who has already purchased instructions should still download them as a precaution.
If spare parts are missing or problems arise at a later date, Patrick can still be contacted for the time being. However, this service will not be available indefinitely. After some time, the remaining spare parts will also be sold.
His collection is changing, too
Another point Patrick brought up in the video concerns his own LEGO Collection.
He never stops collecting.
However, he would like to significantly downsize his Collection.
Over the past five years, I’ve accumulated a huge amount of LEGO through YouTube. Many sets were purchased to feature them on the channel, not necessarily because they were meant to become a permanent part of my own Collection.
In addition, Patrick criticizes some developments within the LEGO community.
He explicitly wants to make it clear that it’s not that he no longer enjoys LEGO itself.
Rather, he is bothered, among other things, by the ever-increasing focus on display models alone, the sometimes harsh treatment within the community, and the dramatic price increases on the secondary market, where some sets rise to two or three times their original price shortly after their release.
Ultimately, these factors also contributed to his decision.
My personal conclusion
This news really hit me hard.
It didn’t surprise me, though.
As many of you know, I’m friends with Patrick. We actually live just one town apart, see each other regularly, and stay in touch often.
As a result, I’ve been able to experience BrixPando from a completely different perspective over the past few years.
I’ve seen many of his prototypes before they were even released. We talked about new ideas together, and I often got a sneak peek at upcoming models.
That’s why, of course, I’ve also noticed how difficult this year has been for him.
To be honest, when sales dropped so sharply back then, I already had a bad feeling about it.
So when the news came out last week that BrixPando is closing, it naturally hit me hard.
Still, I can completely understand his decision.
One of his viewers described it very aptly in the comments below the video:
It’s a mixed blessing.
That’s exactly how I feel, too.
On the one hand, I’m happy for Patrick that he now has the opportunity to start new projects and focus on what he really wants to do.
On the other hand, with BrixPando gone, a piece of LEGO YouTube history is disappearing for me.
We don’t know yet what will happen with his YouTube channel.
I really hope we’ll continue to see him—perhaps in a different capacity or with other projects.
I can also relate to many of his thoughts on the LEGO community.
I’d actually like to write a separate article on this very topic in the coming weeks, because I think it deserves much more attention.
I can also really relate to the point about having your own Collection.
Although my LEGO collection is much smaller than his, I’ve come to realize that it, too, includes sets that I really only bought because they were particularly cheap at the time or were all the rage.
That’s why I can totally understand why Patrick is now scaling back his Collection to just what’s really important to him.
Support BrixPando one last time
If you still want to buy expansion packs, now is your last chance.
Be sure to stop by the store again, grab the items you want, and take advantage of the various discount offers.
Of course, I’ll keep you updated on the upcoming phases as well.
Now I’d like to hear your opinion.
How are you all feeling about this news?
Did the closure come as a surprise to you, or did you see it coming?
