Hey.
I told you a while back that the first LEGO Dragon Ball set is scheduled to be released in November 2026. Now there’s more information available—both about the first set itself and about a possible LEGO Dragon Ball theme line that could follow in 2027.
Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
The first LEGO Dragon Ball set in November 2026
As previously reported in rumors, a larger Dragon Ball Icons set is set to be released in November 2026. The set will center on Shenron —the legendary dragon from the Dragon Ball universe. As things stand, the set is expected to cost between 150 and 200 euros and will likely include several Minifigures.
Especially with Shenron, I can definitely see LEGO going with a large display model here. That would also make sense given that, according to rumors, the set is likely to be categorized under the LEGO Icons line and is therefore aimed more at older collectors and Dragon Ball fans. (Brick Fanatics)
New Rumors: A Dedicated Dragon Ball Series Starting in 2027
But the second part of the rumor is almost even more intriguing.
According to several recent sources, not only is another standalone set scheduled for release in 2027, but a dedicated LEGO Dragon Ball theme line is actually set to launch. The first wave of sets is expected to focus primarily on the older Dragon Ball Z generation. It’s also reported that several new Minifigure molds are planned for the series.
But I want to make it very clear here: These are still just rumors.
Although they come from several leakers and insiders who have often been right in the past, there is currently no official confirmation from LEGO.
And that’s exactly what you should keep in mind.
What that would mean for LEGO
For me, however, this rumor once again very clearly confirms a trend I’ve mentioned here on the blog quite a few times: LEGO is now clearly leaning more toward anime.
With One Piece, K-Pop Demon Hunters, the announced Pokémon theme, and now possibly Dragon Ball as well, it’s already clear that LEGO is trying to gain more and more a foothold in this area.
Still, the fact that Dragon Ball, of all things, might now be getting an entire themed series surprises me a little bit.
Unlike with *One Piece*, there isn’t currently a new Netflix live-action series serving as a massive marketing boost at the same time. Nor is a completely new anime adaptation—as seen with other franchises—on the table right now. That’s precisely why I find it exciting that LEGO apparently still has so much confidence in the brand that they’re already talking about an entire set series.
My personal assessment
I can totally understand why LEGO would choose Dragon Ball of all things.
For many fans, *Dragon Ball* and *Dragon Ball Z* remain among the three biggest and most important anime franchises of all time. The fanbase is huge, the characters are iconic, and characters like Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, and Shenron, in particular, naturally have enormous potential for merchandise.
Still, I have to be honest: If LEGO really wants to launch a major new anime series, I personally would have expected them to go with a more modern anime franchise.
Not because Dragon Ball isn’t big enough—quite the opposite. But rather because Dragon Ball isn’t currently experiencing that same intense new wave of hype that other series are going through right now.
What surprises me most, therefore, is that LEGO is apparently not just testing a single display set, but—according to rumors—is already considering turning it into a full series.
Conclusion
If the rumors turn out to be true, LEGO Dragon Ball could become one of the most exciting new themes in the coming years.
I could definitely see a large Shenron set as a starter set—especially as a display model with a few Minifigures. And if a dedicated set series really does follow in 2027, that would obviously be a really strong signal for anime fans.
But for now, this is all still clearly just a rumor. There’s no official confirmation, and until LEGO itself makes an announcement, we should continue to take this with a grain of salt.
Still, I find this development really exciting, and I’m very curious to see how it all unfolds over the next few months.
Now it’s your turn:
