Steiff Celebrates 30 Years of Pokémon – Exclusive Pikachu Collectible Unveiled

Hi there!

Today we’re going to talk about something a little different—not LEGO, but Pokémon. More specifically, we’re talking about a new collaboration with Steiff, which is releasing an exclusive collectible to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.

Let’s get started.

A few days ago, Steiff officially announced that a special collaboration will be released to mark the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. According to the official website , the exclusive collectible will be unveiled to the public for the first time tomorrow, July 22, 2026.
It was revealed in advance that the Pokémon behind this collaboration is the one with Pokédex number 0025 —and that is, of course, Pikachu, arguably the best-known and most iconic Pokémon of all time.

Very limited edition

This collector’s item is limited to just 1,996 pieces worldwide. This number pays homage to the year Pokémon was released, 1996.
The Pikachu, which is about 21 cm tall, naturally features the famous Steiff button in its ear and will cost 350 €.
Steiff also expressly points out that this is not a toy, but purely a collector’s item.

Exclusive Pre-Launch Event

Even before the official launch, an exclusive pre-launch event will take place on July 24, 2026.
The first 350 numbered pieces of the limited-edition Steiff × Pokémon collection will be available there—both at the Steiff Store in Munich and on the Steiff website.

There’s also a very special promotion for the store in Munich.

Your chance to get copy number 0025

At the Steiff Store in Munich, buyers theoretically have the chance to get their hands on what is arguably the most coveted item in the entire edition: Number 0025 —matching Pikachu’s Pokédex number.
However, this requires prior registration.
Those interested had to register with Steiff via email by midnight today. Thirty peoplewill be selected at randomfrom among all submissions received by the deadline, and they will then receive a personal invitation including an identification number.

Only these invited guests may purchase one of the limited-edition copies on-site on July 24 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
After the purchase, a raffle ticket is automatically added to the raffle pool. At 10:00 a.m., the winner will bedrawn from the pot. The lucky winner will be able to exchangethe copy they just purchased for the very special number 002.

Official Launch Date

The official launch will then take place on August 3, 2026.
Starting then, the Pikachu will be available both directly from Steiff and at select sellers.
However, it is not yet known which sellers in Germany will ultimately carry this collectible.

My Conclusion

This partnership is likely to be of interest to collectors and investors alike.

On the one hand, the strict limited run of just 1,996 pieces ensures that the Pikachu has the potential to become a highly sought-after collector’s item over the long term. After all, both Pokémon and Steiff are among the most well-known brands in the world.

On the other hand, I naturally hope that as many of these figures as possible end up in the hands of genuine collectors. Unfortunately, I fear that a large portion will be bought directly by scalpers or investors, which is, sadly, often the case with such limited-edition releases these days.

Personally, I’m very pleasantly surprised by this collaboration. Steiff, in particular, had lost some of its prominence in the collectors’ market in recent years. That makes it all the more wonderful to me that the company is now launching such a major collaboration with Pokémon.

I also hope that this is just the beginning and that more Pokémon will be released as non-limited-edition Steiff figures in the future. In my opinion, the combination of the popular Pokémon and Steiff’s renowned quality could work exceptionally well.

Now I’d like to hear your opinion.

Will you try to get your hands on this limited-edition Pikachu? Or do you think €350 is too much to pay for a collector’s item? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
