Hey.
A brand-new LEGO set was unveiled today—it’s based on K-Pop Demon Hunters.
A few months ago, I told you that LEGO had announced a partnership with the franchise and that we could probably expect the first sets to be released later this year. Now the time has come, and we have the first officially unveiled set.

Let’s take a closer look at the set
Pictured here is Derpy, the blue tiger from the movie, along with Sussie, the little magpie. Sussie is sitting on the tiger’s head; although she’s made up of only a few parts, she’s a really good representation of her character from the movie.
In front of it is a small flowerpot. It’s a nice nod to the fact that it keeps getting knocked over in the movie.
The real highlight of the set is, of course, Derpy herself.
The tiger has a small message on its tongue. Unfortunately, this was only applied to a tile using stickers. However, two different messages are included that you can swap out. You can also choose whether to display the tiger with its mouth open and teeth visible or with its tongue sticking out and the message visible. There’s also a small compartment at the back of the head. You can access it by removing a stone. That’s where you can store the additional messages.
The tiger’s tail is also movable and can be positioned in various ways. The same goes for the paws. Based on the images released so far, the rest of the details appear to be mostly prints, which I personally am very happy about.
My impression
I think the implementation is really well done.
When comparing the model to its counterpart from the movie, I think LEGO has captured the proportions very well. I also like the building techniques, and I haven’t noticed any jarring colors in the product images released so far.
This is the first set resulting from the collaboration between LEGO and K-Pop Demon Hunters.
More sets are expected to be unveiled later this year, and they will likely be released next year.
Actually, I’m a little surprised that LEGO has already released this set.
Since *K-Pop Demon Hunters* was considered something of an insider tip before its release—and hardly anyone expected it to achieve such international success—the question arises as to whether LEGO had already been working on this set early on or whether its development was completed surprisingly quickly afterward.
Conclusion
I really like this set.
The proportions are right, the building techniques are true to the original, and I also think the value for the price is absolutely justified for a licensed set from Sony and Netflix.
Personally, though, I probably won’t buy it anyway, since I’m not excited enough about it to feel like I absolutely have to have it in my Collection.
Now I’m curious:
What do you think of this first LEGO K-Pop Demon Hunters set? Are you going to get Derpy and Sussie?
