LEGO recently officially unveiled a brand-new set. This time, it’s part of the Architecture line and serves as the spiritual successor to the legendary Creator Expert Tower Bridge from 2010. Rumors had been circulating for quite some time that this set was on the way. Last week, the first images finally surfaced, and the official unveiling followed shortly thereafter.
Let’s get started.
The biggest difference from the previous model is immediately apparent: Instead of being part of the former Creator Expert line, the new model is now released as a LEGO Architecture set. As a result, the design has been tailored much more toward a high-quality display model.
Let’s take a closer look at the model.
The water beneath Tower Bridge is completely framed by an elegant black border, which immediately gives the model a more high-quality overall look. Several vehicles are driving on the bridge itself, including, of course, the famous red London double-decker bus as well as a few smaller cars.
Of course, Tower Bridge can also be opened. The two middle sections of the bridge can be raised so that ships can pass underneath, just like the original.
On the front of the black base, there is also—as is typical of the Architecture series—a printed tile bearing the name of the building.
Overall, the model looks very high-quality and is meticulously crafted down to the smallest details.

Comparison with Tower Bridge from 2010
Of course, a comparison with the original Creator Expert Tower Bridge (10214) immediately comes to mind.
That model was released in 2010, remained in the lineup until 2018, and consisted of 4,287 pieces. The MSRP at the time was €219.99, which worked out to a price of just about 5.1 cents per piece.
The original model was even slightly larger in terms of dimensions.

Another difference is also immediately apparent.
In the old model, Tower Bridge was depicted without the tiled water surface. The new model, on the other hand, features the typical black Architecture base with the Thames, which makes the entire structure look significantly more high-quality as a display model.
Both versions feature the familiar flip-up bridge mechanism, but the new model has been designed to be much more delicate and intricate.
One of the largest Architecture sets
With 3,745 pieces, the new Tower Bridge is also one of the largest LEGO Architecture sets ever.
Currently, the order is as follows:

🥈 2nd place: Notre-Dame de Paris – 4,383 pieces
🥇 1st Place: Sagrada Família – 12,060 pieces
This alone shows just how much importance LEGO attaches to this model within the Architecture series.
My Conclusion
When you compare the two models, it’s immediately apparent that the new Tower Bridge has been crafted with much greater detail. The proportions appear more harmonious, and the overall architecture comes even closer to the original.
Even so, the old Creator Expert version still has a charm all its own for me. For many years, it was one of the most famous LEGO models of all time, and it has since achieved true cult status.
Personally, I objectively prefer the new model—if only because of its significantly higher level of detail. But purely out of nostalgia, my heart still beats just a little bit faster for the 2010 version.
Personally, though, neither the old nor the new model will be joining my Collection. Still, I’m really excited that this legendary set is making a comeback in a modern form.
I’m also curious to see which major landmarks LEGO will reinterpret in the future. I could definitely imagine the Taj Mahal, in particular, being reimagined as a massive Architecture set with 6,000 to 8,000 pieces.
